Somalia Takes Over Leadership of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF).

The Federal Government of Somalia has officially assumed the leadership of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), a regional organization focused on promoting peace and security in the Eastern Africa region. This force is one of the five regional standby forces of the African Standby Force (ASF), comprising military, police, and civilian components.

During the 33rd annual policy-setting meeting of the EASF, Somalia’s Minister of Defense, H.E. Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur, took over the chairmanship of the Council of Ministers of Defense and Security for the Eastern Africa region from his Rwandan counterpart, H.E. Juvenal Marizamunda.
