The Minister of Energy and Water Resources for the Galmudug State Government, Abdulkadir Shire Warsame (Galbeyte), has laid the foundation stone for the construction of five (5) modern water wells in the Maroodile area. These wells are part of the Barwaaqo Project, funded by the World Bank. The water wells will be implemented in various locations across the Mudug and Galgaduud regions.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials, including the Governor of Galgaduud Region, Elmi Ali Ganey, the Mayor of Guriceel District, Farah Abdi Macallin, the Procurement Director of the Barwaaqo Project, Liban Abdalla Gorgor, along with other ministers, members of parliament from Galmudug State, and the community of Maroodile.

Officials speaking at the event noted that these water wells will be constructed in the following areas: Maroodile, Nagaadiweyn, and Laas-ooy in Galgaduud Region, as well as Docole, Ooman, and Toore in Mudug Region. The Barwaaqo Project is part of ongoing efforts to improve the livelihoods of communities, particularly by ensuring access to clean water.
